Our Story

When our son Jack was born with Down syndrome, we found out we had a lot to learn. Not just about the best way to nuture our child so he would grow up as healthy as possible, but about the whole world of special needs. One thing we learned, children born in some countries who have special needs generally don't go home with their mom & dad. They go to baby orphanages. We have decided to adopt one of these little angels, a beautiful girl with Down syndrome. We found our new daughter through an organization called Reece's Rainbow. They advocate for these little ones, trying to get them into the arms of their forever families. Please go visit. There is a button on the left. These children will touch your heart.

Day 9

Sunday.  We missed our first visit with Dashlyn (we think our driver wanted the day off).  We realized there was a time change back home.  We walked quite a bit looking for a “grocery store”.  No luck.  Couldn’t find anywhere to connect this computer to the internet either.  We did however purchase some cough medicine for hubby so we won’t get thrown out of the orphanage if he decides to cough!

Our afternoon visit was great.  As usual she got all dressed up to go out side and we spent the first part of our visit out in the playground area.  We were told we could give her some apple juice if we wanted, so today we tried that.  BIG hit.  She loved it!  We stopped her after 5 oz or so because we were afraid of the diaper fall-out.  But she drank out a sippy cup that we found here that has a no spill spout on it, step up from a bottle.  After that we went in and played on the lovely couch again.
