Our Story

When our son Jack was born with Down syndrome, we found out we had a lot to learn. Not just about the best way to nuture our child so he would grow up as healthy as possible, but about the whole world of special needs. One thing we learned, children born in some countries who have special needs generally don't go home with their mom & dad. They go to baby orphanages. We have decided to adopt one of these little angels, a beautiful girl with Down syndrome. We found our new daughter through an organization called Reece's Rainbow. They advocate for these little ones, trying to get them into the arms of their forever families. Please go visit. There is a button on the left. These children will touch your heart.

Day 4

For the first chunk of the day we did nothing.  Slept in, I did some computer stuff, we packed, eventually showered, hung around our little apartment.  At 3:15 one of the facilitators called and said be ready in 1/2 an hour to get picked up to get your paperwork and go to the train.  Cool!  Not 5 mins later, Nico called.  “I’m here, come out.”  Argghhh.  Rush, rush.  Go to SDA again, see the VanDykes and the Whaleys, watch their papers get signed, have our turn!  Jump back into Nico’s car.  When we get to the train station, he says we have plenty of time but hurry!  We rush into the station and stand with our stuff for a few minutes while he goes somewhere, then he rushes back with tickets and off we go again.  Onto the platform, into the train and find our compartment.  It’s small but private.  I feel NOTHING like Harry Potter going to Hogwarts :(.  Nobody even offered us any chocolate frogs.  Bummer.  But if you can tell, here’s what it looks like:
