Our Story

When our son Jack was born with Down syndrome, we found out we had a lot to learn. Not just about the best way to nuture our child so he would grow up as healthy as possible, but about the whole world of special needs. One thing we learned, children born in some countries who have special needs generally don't go home with their mom & dad. They go to baby orphanages. We have decided to adopt one of these little angels, a beautiful girl with Down syndrome. We found our new daughter through an organization called Reece's Rainbow. They advocate for these little ones, trying to get them into the arms of their forever families. Please go visit. There is a button on the left. These children will touch your heart.

Day 8

Same morning as the past few.  Visit with Dashlyn, come home by noon.  No pics because I very genius-like left the memory card in the netbook from when I downloaded pics from yesterday (that was sarcastic).

We headed out in search of a place with wifi and found (trumpets sound) McDonalds!  Yay!  During burger and french fry intake, I tried to access their wifi.  No luck.  :(  I hate that this is so hard!

I do have some pics from the afternoon visit though.  When we first got there we had to stick our head in the room they use to eat in (I’m guessing) as usual and all the kids were sitting at little tables.  Dashlyn saw us and dropped to the floor and started crawling our way!  That made Allan’s day.  They told her to wait and took her to get her shoes and coat.  She did.  This was the first time we brought the DVD player.  I had Babysongs already in it.  This is what she thought of Babysongs:

She was enthralled!  Glued to the screen.  Every so often she would grab and pull it close to her but was okay when I moved it back.  We cut her off after 30 mins and promised she could watch again tomorrow!

(And yes, the date on the camera is STILL wrong!  Maybe I’ll remember to fix that tonight. ;) .)

  2. LOVE that she saw you and came crawling to you. She is one smart girl!! I also love that she likes to watch a video because that is Ella's favorite thing to do and you know I think they are soul sisters!! Have I mentioned that it has made my day (while stuck at the hospital) to finally be getting to read about your adventures and see the pictures of this beautiful little angel!!)
