Our Story

When our son Jack was born with Down syndrome, we found out we had a lot to learn. Not just about the best way to nuture our child so he would grow up as healthy as possible, but about the whole world of special needs. One thing we learned, children born in some countries who have special needs generally don't go home with their mom & dad. They go to baby orphanages. We have decided to adopt one of these little angels, a beautiful girl with Down syndrome. We found our new daughter through an organization called Reece's Rainbow. They advocate for these little ones, trying to get them into the arms of their forever families. Please go visit. There is a button on the left. These children will touch your heart.

Day 11

Tuesday.  It was a beautiful day – 27 degrees C (which equals almost 80 degrees F!)  And yes, people were still wearing coats, hats, and boots!)  Our girl didn’t mind though :).

Spinning with Daddy:

(They said she had to wear the hat, but we upzipped the coat and tied the hat strings up out of her way.  I know, scandalous!)

Then we walked ourselves to a little market where we found a few things to eat, cereal, milk, juice, water, and some frozen things that look like the frozen chicken kiev that I buy back home.  We’ll let you know how that turns out!  Spent a total of about $11!

Then to McDonald’s for wifi time.  We got to chat with Al’s mom, Madelyn, and my friend Lisa all at the same time.  Why are they up so early??

Afternoon visit, same ole, same ole.  But here is what we ate for dinner:

012

Looks like little frozen perogues (sp??).  We boiled them like ravioli and they were good.  Stuffed with some kind of meat (we ate it, don’t tell us what it is if you know!) and usually served with sour cream.  We felt so proud of ourselves.  Up til now dinner was usually a ham sandwich, or pb&j (that I brought from home).

  3. That pic of Daddy and Dashlyn makes me a little verklempt...thinking about how far "we've" come since that snow day last winter! :o) I'm sure there will be many more similar pictures in the years to come...big smiles and fun. And don't tell him I said it, but he is a pretty special dad. (Of course, that's not *me* talking, Jack told me. :o)

  6. Hi, Julie and Allan, yes this weather is just disgusting! I wanted to get away from warm weather!! And, yes, they have these kids bundled so much you wonder how they keep from getting sick.

We are not having much luck here with our judge. He/she is not willing to say that we will ever have court! We are kind of beside ourselves, because we are having a situation at home we need to take care of, and of course Alan's job.

I lost your email. Mine is: manymusic@gmail.com our blot is: bunchesofwhaleys.blogspot.com

Let me know how you are doing.....she's adorable! We love our girl, too.
