Our Story

When our son Jack was born with Down syndrome, we found out we had a lot to learn. Not just about the best way to nuture our child so he would grow up as healthy as possible, but about the whole world of special needs. One thing we learned, children born in some countries who have special needs generally don't go home with their mom & dad. They go to baby orphanages. We have decided to adopt one of these little angels, a beautiful girl with Down syndrome. We found our new daughter through an organization called Reece's Rainbow. They advocate for these little ones, trying to get them into the arms of their forever families. Please go visit. There is a button on the left. These children will touch your heart.

Poor Dashlyn

IMG_0422

Sweet girl needed shots.  I had planned to space then out when we brought her home but I kinda forgot about them.  So we started the catch up.  Yesterday she got a TDaP.  None of my kids has ever had more than a slight fever after any shot but I watch them pretty closely anyway.  Just before dinner and after nap poor sweet girl started feeling warm.  She wasn’t too miserable (ate dinner) but she wasn’t quite her busy little self either.  After 18 mos home, she finally wanted nothing more than to cuddle with mommy!

Oh my goodness, I had no idea how much that would mean to me.  We sat and rested in the recliner and watched some tv.  I tried to take a couple of photos of resting girl but after the first one she was way too interested in the camera.

(When Dasha’s tired or stressed, the fingers go in the mouth – usually it’s both the first and second but for this pic it was only the one.)
