Our Story

When our son Jack was born with Down syndrome, we found out we had a lot to learn. Not just about the best way to nuture our child so he would grow up as healthy as possible, but about the whole world of special needs. One thing we learned, children born in some countries who have special needs generally don't go home with their mom & dad. They go to baby orphanages. We have decided to adopt one of these little angels, a beautiful girl with Down syndrome. We found our new daughter through an organization called Reece's Rainbow. They advocate for these little ones, trying to get them into the arms of their forever families. Please go visit. There is a button on the left. These children will touch your heart.

Dasha’s Hair

Since Dasha has been home we’ve been trying to let her hair grow.  As a poor little sweet orphan, her hair was shaved off as soon as it grew more than an inch or 2.  I was planning to let that stuff grow as long as it would go.  And then it grew.  And got into her mouth.  And nose.  And was constantly full of drool and snot and food and tangles – yuck.  She was adorable…..and such a mess.  So M and I hauled her over to my friend Heather’s house (she does hair).  And voila – cute, Cute, CUTE!

Isn’t she adorable?!  Her teachers like it and M and I LOVE it!  So much easier to wash, brush, and keep out of her face.  I was reluctant to do it but so glad we did!

  1. She's beautiful! Super cute haircut! I know, I've been thinking the same thing too. I didn't want to totally buzz E's hair 'cuz it looked so institutional, even though my bio son's hair was buzzed. LOL Double standard I know. But last night I buzzed it. I figure he's been home long enough for me to get over myself. :-)

Loved the video of Dasha in action too!

  2. Love the long hair she had, but so understand that shorter is easier. And she's super adorable in her new cut!
