Our Story

When our son Jack was born with Down syndrome, we found out we had a lot to learn. Not just about the best way to nuture our child so he would grow up as healthy as possible, but about the whole world of special needs. One thing we learned, children born in some countries who have special needs generally don't go home with their mom & dad. They go to baby orphanages. We have decided to adopt one of these little angels, a beautiful girl with Down syndrome. We found our new daughter through an organization called Reece's Rainbow. They advocate for these little ones, trying to get them into the arms of their forever families. Please go visit. There is a button on the left. These children will touch your heart.

Masha

This post is to introduce you to a little sweet-heart named Masha.

One of the problems about adopting is leaving behind so many other wonderful and loving children that just want a mommy and daddy. Not a big house or a huge flat-screen tv, just someplace and someone of their own. Yes, it's expensive to adopt. But people save up or go into debt every day for a new car, new computer, heck even a designer purse. Do people NEED these things? Not even close. But do children NEED a family? Do they NEED someone to see their potential and save them from life in an adult mental institution? YES YES YES.

So back to Masha. She'll turn 4 soon after the new year. Where she lives, that is pretty much the end of hope. That institution I mentioned? It's real, and it may be where she goes right after her birthday. She may be walking by now. If not, no one at the institution will help her learn and she'll be bedridden. There are no toys, no second helpings of the tiny amount of food she'll be given, no cuddles and smiles. She needs a mommy, a family, NOW. Can you help? Even if you aren't ready to bring her home, a donation to her account will help someone else be able to bring her home. She's smart and wants to learn and play. All that will be gone if she has to exist in the institution. Go back and look at her again. Look at the life in her beautiful almost-smile. And pray she finds a family.
