Our Story

When our son Jack was born with Down syndrome, we found out we had a lot to learn. Not just about the best way to nuture our child so he would grow up as healthy as possible, but about the whole world of special needs. One thing we learned, children born in some countries who have special needs generally don't go home with their mom & dad. They go to baby orphanages. We have decided to adopt one of these little angels, a beautiful girl with Down syndrome. We found our new daughter through an organization called Reece's Rainbow. They advocate for these little ones, trying to get them into the arms of their forever families. Please go visit. There is a button on the left. These children will touch your heart.

I need to go to bed

But it's been so long since I wrote anything, I need to write a little something before I go off to my comfy bed. So, here goes.

The yard sale - It went really well! After a Sat. sale and then again on Wed., we made just over $1300 in profit! Amazing! Most of that will go into our acct on RR but I'm keeping a little for mailing expenses. (More on that in a moment.) A big huge THANK YOU!!!! for everyone who donated anything or came out to shop or say hi. I met some of the nicest people, including a lady from Dashlyn's home country! I wish I'd gotten her # - I have lots of questions :). The other special person I met will get special recognition later, maybe after tomorrow!

Progress update - I have the rough draft of our home study! There are a couple of changes, but we should have the whole thing completed by early next week! Woo Hoo! We took 21 pages of stuff to be notarized the other day, and when they get approved, I'll start having them apostilled. Things are moving!

Ok, back to hs reading and folding the infernal laundry - blah.

  1. That is awesome that you did so well with the yard sale!! Glad your paperwork is coming along. It will be such a relief to have that done, I am sure. So, are you going to be mad if Dashlyn still gets called Dasha sometimes? My girls and I still always call her Dasha out of habit whenever we talk about her. May be a hard habit to break. How far are you from Branson??? My dad and step mom are RVing right now and that's where they are. My Step mom keeps up with your blog as well...she is the one who donated to RR for Dasha during the Christmas Tree Project.
