Our Story

When our son Jack was born with Down syndrome, we found out we had a lot to learn. Not just about the best way to nuture our child so he would grow up as healthy as possible, but about the whole world of special needs. One thing we learned, children born in some countries who have special needs generally don't go home with their mom & dad. They go to baby orphanages. We have decided to adopt one of these little angels, a beautiful girl with Down syndrome. We found our new daughter through an organization called Reece's Rainbow. They advocate for these little ones, trying to get them into the arms of their forever families. Please go visit. There is a button on the left. These children will touch your heart.

Small Updates

M's passport came the other day but we're still waiting on Al's. I hope it comes soon - we all applied together on the same day. Weird.

Got the dreaded I600-A form sent out and it was to be delivered yesterday. Hmmm, better check on that; we have a tracking #.

And look - the blog guru has been at it again! We have little cute blog post dividers, with Dashlyn's name in them even. Love it! Thanks Randa-Kay! (That's what happens when you give your friend your blogging password - fun surprises!)

Still working on the darned homestudy. We really only have a few things left to do and then we'll meet with the social worker and hopefully then she'll be able to write up and complete the homestudy. Whew. The good news is that we've been compiling dossier documents at the same time, so when the h.s. is done, we'll be ready to send the dossier off to EE! Things seem to be moving along in EE. I'm sure we won't get our 10 day wait waived (some regions do this) but the appt dates seem to be given in a pretty timely manner. So we might be able to move up our timeline a bit, but I'm still thinking mid to late fall before we have our girl home. Wish us luck, keep us in your prayers, burn incense, do whatever it takes to keep us moving, please!! (Yes, I can feel your intense "good luck thought waves" from here Denise!)

    I am just so happy that this beautiful baby has such a wonderful family waiting for her. I check your blog every day and can't wait for the day I see you are on your way to pick her up. I too fell in love with Dashlyn a couple months ago and the day she was listed as having a commited family I was so happy for her. Then when I read your posts and bio - I knew with all my heart that she was meant to be with you!!!!! Thank GOD!!!!!!!!

    You betcha!!! There are prayers and good luck thought waves always heading from here to there. Do you remember my saying that the other little girl I was in love with on RR was Sofia??? Well, I am having so much fun watching their journey with her over in EE right now.....I will simply be beside myself once you are there with Dashlyn!!! Keep up the good work.
