Our Story

When our son Jack was born with Down syndrome, we found out we had a lot to learn. Not just about the best way to nuture our child so he would grow up as healthy as possible, but about the whole world of special needs. One thing we learned, children born in some countries who have special needs generally don't go home with their mom & dad. They go to baby orphanages. We have decided to adopt one of these little angels, a beautiful girl with Down syndrome. We found our new daughter through an organization called Reece's Rainbow. They advocate for these little ones, trying to get them into the arms of their forever families. Please go visit. There is a button on the left. These children will touch your heart.

Frustrated, frustrated

I just feel like this is going too sloooooowly. There is a tiny bit of good news today though - I think we can go ahead and send in our I600-A form. I thought we had wait 'til our homestudy was complete. So that's what I'll try to get done tomorrow. There are some days I'm think things are moving right along, and some when I want to tear out my hair because I feel like NOTHING is happening. Then we hear about stuff like that darned volcano, delaying flights, and stupid people who send children flying off to Russia by themselves, and I get more frustrated. Patience has never been my strong suit so please say a little prayer for me to get a grip!! I look at Dashlyn's picture all the time and I can almost feel her little eyebrows, and her soft cheeks, and her sweet little hands. Nope, can't get this done soon enough!

  1. I couldn't agree with you more!! This is taking too long :) No, seriously, you are doing everything to make it happen as quickly as possible....it's just a long process. But I am right there with you in wanting for you to get over there and save Dashlyn. I am simply on the edge of my seat waiting to see her in your arms. Did I tell you my plan....I think that next year for Ella and Dashlyn's bdays that Ella and I should fly out to meet you guys and they could celebrate together :) Don't know if it could happen but it sounds like a good dream doesn't it????

  5. I know the wait can be hard, believe me I know. We have been in this process 6 months. 5 months in when we found out the agency was a bunch of liars and did not do anything they said they had but take our money. We lost the adoption of our child in Russia and a ton of money. Here we are 6 months in starting from scratch. We are doing a domestic adoption because of all the crap we went through with this agency. God is still good. You will bring your baby home. Hold on. HUGS!
